Yorkshire Water Appoints Stantec as Strategic Planning Partner
Yorkshire Water has announced the major appointment of Stantec (previously MWH) as its sole Strategic Planning Partner (SPP) in a deal worth £50m, as the water firm prepares supply chain arrangements and contracts for the AMP7 period (2020 – 2025).
The major seven-year contract will commence in January 2018 until March 2025, with the potential to extend by an additional five years.
Stantec will provide a range of services to support Yorkshire Water’s strategic plan, working closely with the firm’s own highly skilled and innovative in-house team.

Moody’s Downgrades UK Water Sector Outlook
Ratings agency Moody’s has changed its outlook for the UK water sector from stable to negative for the first time since first published in 2004.
In a report published today Moody’s says that the Water Services Regulation Authority’s (Ofwat) proposed cut in UK water companies’ allowed headline returns by a third from 2020 will weigh heavily on the credit metrics of many firms and underpins the negative outlook on the sector over the next 12 to 18 months.

Environment Agency Tenders £1.5 bn Flood Defence Framework Contract
The Environment Agency has gone out to tender with a contract for a programme of capital investment and improvement works for flood defence assets to replace the current national Water and Environment Management Frameworks worth an estimated £1.5 billion.
The Agency is looking to appoint consultants and contractors to a new Collaborative Delivery Framework – BAM Nuttall, Galliford Try, Jackson, JN Bentley, Van Oord and Volker Stevin are among contractors on the existing framework.
