The UK Water Industry ‘Centre of Excellence’ – *MEMBER EXCLUSIVE SESSION*

30th July 2021 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
  • « EUA & EIC live interactive session – ‘Engaging innovators and the supply chain in supporting the journey to a zero carbon gas network’
  • Black Voices in the Water Industry: From Talk to Action »

Have your say on the future of the innovation accelerator hub

Emerging from the ‘Innovation 2050’ report, the Centre of Excellence has been established to drive innovation across the water industry, coordinate activities across the sector and bring change around the ‘big questions’.

We are inviting our members to join us for a session with Carly Perry, Sia Partners and Shaunna Berendsen, UKWIR to find how the Centre of Excellence will benefit you and your business. This is a great opportunity for the supply chain to have input into the operation and focus of the Centre.

The discussion will include:

  • Vision for the innovation accelerator hub
  • High level functionality
  • Funding options

Fibre in Water

The Fibre in Water (FiW) project, brings the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA), the Department for Digital, Culture Media & Sport (DCMS) and other government departments together to fund trials exploring the feasibility and viability of extending rural connectivity through exploiting existing and new technologies.

FiW is looking to test fibre in water solutions in the real world; and ensure secure and resilient access to fibre in water technology. In addition to connecting the hardest to reach areas in the UK, the focus is on reducing water leakage, enabling innovative technologies for the water industry and ‘future proofing’ water and telecommunications infrastructures including de-risking the PSTN switch-off between 2021 and 2025.

There will be a short briefing by Alex Cleaves from DCMS, introducing the project and the launch event which takes place next month.
