Dr William Perry

Postdoctoral Researcher, University of Cardiff

William is a postdoctoral researcher at the Water Research Institute at Cardiff University, working as part of the data analyst team on the Wales Environmental Wastewater Analysis & Surveillance for Health (WEWASH) project.

The WEWASH project is a collaboration between Cardiff University, Bangor University, Public Health Wales and Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, focusing on monitoring the SARS-CoV-2 signal in Wales’ wastewater and reporting these results to Welsh Government. Previously, William completed his PhD from Bangor University in 2020, and has a background in molecular ecology.

William has worked on topics such as Atlantic salmon aquaculture, gut microbiomes and biomonitoring using environmental DNA, but has now focused his attention on the future of wastewater surveillance.
