We need to change our behaviours around water if we’re going to avoid widespread water scarcity in the UK. That starts with connecting to how valuable water really is.
Increasingly erratic weather patterns, combined with population growth and changes in lifestyle, have led to growing pressure being put on our water supplies, right across the UK. As a result, it is more important than ever that we take care with how we use water. Taking positive action now can help to ensure that there is enough water to go around for our families, our businesses, wildlife, and the environment.
Following the huge success of the Waterwise and Water UK collaborative campaign ‘Water’s Worth Saving’, which reached more than 19 million people between July and September of this year, Waterwise is launching a new campaign focused on the importance of valuing our water. ‘Water Makes it Possible’ will run from 19th October to 19th November . During this time the campaign will talk about all the ways in which water is precious and indispensable to us, encourage people to rethink how much they value water, and offer practical advice on how to use less water in everyday life.
Waterwise’s Managing Director, Nicci Russell, said:
‘ We know people have the safety and health of those they love and care for at the top of their minds at the
moment. At Waterwise, we do too. The public health advice on handwashing reminds us all how critical
water is to life. And, there are so many ways in which water is infinitely valuable to us. That’s why we’re
keeping the flag flying for water efficiency – unless we waste less, there’s a big risk that many of us, across
the UK, will struggle to get access to water within our lifetimes. And we simply can’t live without it. Join us
over the next month to discuss the multitude of things that water makes possible. ’
Waterwise are proud to be partnering with CCW (Consumer Council for Water), the Consumer Council Northern
Ireland, and Citizens Advice Scotland for this UK-wide campaign.
