The ICE / ACO SuDS Route Maps are a set of 8 detailed route maps about the main tasks involved in SuDS delivery, an explanation of the current policy contexts in different UK nations, over 80 live links to internet resources, and a glossary of relevant abbreviations. A downloadablepdf version is available on the Institution of Civil Engineers website at www.ice.org.uk/sudsroutemaps and a ‘page turner’ version is available on the ACO website at www.aco.co.uk/sudsroutemaps.
Chair of the ICE SuDS Task Group Dr David Smoker, of ACO Technologies, said ‘Our survey of over 400 professionals gave us lots of useful information about the needs of SuDS practitioners, including the need for a set of route maps to act as an aide memoire for the many different disciplines involved. The nine members of the Task Group – drawn from planning, consultancy, academia and local authority – have worked extremely hard for 18 months to produce these route maps, and we’re delighted with the results. We’ve covered the main phases of SuDSdelivery, from pre-planning through to adoption and maintenance, developed clear route maps for each phase to show the main tasks involved, and added live links to resources such as regulations, guidelines and case studies. The feedback from 19 SuDS professionals throughout the UK also helped improve the document. Even though the regulatory context for SuDS is not yet ideal in any of the devolved regions, we look forward to seeing more professionals able to achieve SuDS delivery as a result of our route maps.’
