Professor Vanessa Speight

Professor of Integrated Water Systems, University of Sheffield 

Vanessa Speight is Professor of Integrated Water Systems at the University of Sheffield, with expertise in drinking water quality, applications of models and data analytics for water quality, public health risk, and innovation in urban water systems.

Vanessa was Managing Director of TWENTY65, the EPSRC Grand Challenge Centre for Water working across the water cycle to develop disruptive solutions to meet future challenges for water. With more than 25 years of experience in the water industry, she has worked on water system planning for more than 70 utilities across the US, UK, and Canada and has been a technical advisor to USEPA on water infrastructure evaluation and regulation for more than 15 years.

Vanessa has a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from McGill University plus Masters and PhD degrees in Environmental Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
