Mike Sumbler

Water Supply & Energy Manager, Bristol Water 

Mike received his Environmental Geoscience BSc from Brunel University in 2005 and promptly moved into a career as a Environmental Consultant working as a contaminated land specialist for a global oil company in the UK and North Africa. After gaining a masters in Hydrogeology in 2008 his work began to focus on solving groundwater modelling problems for contaminant fate & transport, EIA and mine dewatering. From 2012 he moved into clean water working as Water Resource Modeller for Wessex Water, focusing on long and medium term resource planning and supply optimisation.

In 2018 he stepped across to Bristol Water taking a role as Water Supply and Energy Manager. The role involves taking a lead on water resource and supply planning, environmental compliance, raw water asset management and strategy, real-time whole network optimisation, renewable energy schemes, energy management and procurement, and finally carbon.
