hAQUAthon 2018

Press Release: hAQUAthon 2018

Following the success of the 2017 event, which brought together over 80 water industry experts,  the hAQUAthon  will return on the 27th & 28th November 2018:  merging data science, innovation and collaboration to drive innovation through a fun, informal event.

More than an elaborate play on words “HAQUAthon” 2018 will bring together water utility companies, suppliers, and those working and studying in the field of data to collaborate during a “data hack” event. Aiming to challenge conventional problem-solving methodology and break down “silo” thinking the event will identify real-world solutions and accelerate innovation in the water industry.

Produced by decisionLab UK and Artesia Consulting, supported by Twenty65 and the Future Water Association, teams will work collaboratively to analyse, debate and produce solutions to the most pressing issues faced in the industry.

  • The long-term resilience of water and wastewater systems
  • Delivering great customer service combined with affordability
  • Protecting the environment

Winners will have the chance to pitch their ideas at the end of the event to a team of judges from the industry that will evaluate the feasibility of taking this further into the commercial sector with a package of support and mentoring.

The event is free to attend for all participants and open to both commercial and academic entrants working in the field of water management but also importantly outside the sector. By creating a diverse mix of skills and expertise, we believe through collaboration this innovative event can truly accelerate the pace of change in water for the benefit of both customers and the environment.

‘Haquathon 2018 is about thinking differently and developing ideas critical to shaping the future of the water sector, this objective is at the heart of Future Water Association vision and we are happy to support this years’ event’ Paul Horton, CEO – Future Water Association.
