Webinar EU H2020 framework programme project ‘Building Collaborative Urban Drainage research labs (Co-UDlabs)

13th October 2021 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

IKT-Institute for Underground Infrastructure are holding an introductory webinar for our EU H2020 framework programme project ‘Building Collaborative Urban Drainage research labs (Co-UDlabs)’ on Wednesday 13th October, which might be of interest to FWA members. This is a four year project involving IKT, Sheffield University and other European urban drainage labs that incudes funding support for trans-national access to 17 research facilities for which there will be two calls for proposals for research from interested utilities and supply chain companies.

This webinar will officially introduce Building Collaborative Urban Drainage research labs communities (Co-UDlabs). This is an EU H2020 funded project, based on the common goal – and impending necessity – to develop efficient and effective co-operation between scientists, researchers, and practitioners in the face of the increasingly pressing challenges of Urban Drainage System management.

Co-UDlabs will offer free Transnational Access (TA) to 17 high-end experimental facilities including laboratories, field sites and large repositories of experimental data in order to conduct research on topics such as:
-Testing novel monitoring solutions (e.g. computer vision, deep-learning and IoT applications) in the water and wastewater management sector
-Generate and process data to investigate the deterioration of urban drainage assets
-Test protocols, software and hardware aiming to improve the resilience and sustainability of urban drainage solutions

The access to experimental facilities aims to encourage co-operation among researchers, practitioners, SMEs, local regulators and administrations to tackle challenges in the management and operation of wastewater systems. We look forward to establishing research consortia based on a mix of academic and non-academic partners – with specific focus on the engagement of SMEs active in this field of work.

For more Information is available in this Co-UDlabs and Webinar Leaflet

There is also a two morning Workshop on good practices and research needs for optimising urban drainage on 3rd/4th November and a Hackathon on 23rd/25th November. Look out for more details.
