Pipeline Industries Guild Retention Of Critical Knowledge

28th November 2018

This one-day conference will look at the issues, risks and solutions for companies to address the challenges surrounding how organisations deal with loss of personnel and the knowledge their people take with them when they leave. How do we define what is critical? How do we construct and manage knowledge & data systems for current as well as future use? How do we codify, create, and establish the procedures to give the best routes to locate, retain, and transfer and futureproof data preservation.

In recent years the pipeline, energy, utilities, construction and infrastructure industries have seen mergers & acquisitions, demerger, staff retiring, redundancies, and difficulties of retention as the skills shortage and potential salaries motivating staff movement.

There are risks of knowledge being held by a single person, information, records and data that have not been digitised due to age, being difficult to locate in multiple offices; companies may lack the processes to decouple knowledge from those that depart or construct information records in formats to upskill or transfer knowledge to new, graduates, or other staff.
