- Objective: Focus on leakage reduction competition with legislative requirements in AMP8.
11:30 AM – 12:15 PM: Session 2: New pipes don’t leak – do they?
- Format: Talk followed by a collaborative session
- Objective: Explore the issues with new pipe infrastructure and whether they offer a sustainable solution to leakage.
12:15 PM – 1:00 PM: Session 3: How are we innovating in leakage?
- Format: Presentation
- Objective: Highlight the latest innovations being adopted to address leakage challenges.
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Networking Lunch Break
2:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Session 4: An honest evaluation of the physical impediments to achieving connectivity: Why will communication providers struggle?
- Format: Presentation
- Speaker: Timothy Rogers, Business Development Manager, Xylem
- Objective: Discuss the role of smart meters and how they can contribute to leakage reduction efforts but what is the current state and barriers to achieving the 95% connectivity targets set by Ofwat?
2:30 PM – 3:00 PM: Session 5: What can we learn from the gas and electricity industry in the smart meter roll-out?
- Format: Discussion
- Objective: Cross-industry learning from gas and electricity sectors’ experience with smart meter implementation.
3:00 PM – 3:15 PM: Session 6: Is there a new regulatory and reporting framework that can be used to determine the best way of reducing leakage?
- Format: Collaborative session
- Objective: Discuss the regulatory frameworks and their potential in guiding or creating barriers to leakage reduction strategies.
3:15 PM – 3:45 PM: Session 7: Where are the people? How do we find enough skilled workforce?
- Format: Talk
- Objective: Explore the challenges of finding skilled engineers and workforce solutions for leakage reduction.
3:45 PM – 4:30 PM: Closing Remarks and Next Steps
