In addition to the core prizes at this year’s Big Bang Competition, entrants will also have the opportunity to win one of 19 Special Awards. These awards are sponsored by a variety of businesses and industries with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) connection.

Future Water Association, in collaboration with Anglian Water, are proud to be sponsoring one of the Big Bang Competitions Special Awards; the Young Water Dragons Award.

The Young Water Dragons Award aims to celebrate a creative water-themed project where students have shown that they can make better use of water for the benefit of the environment and all mankind.  Entrants will be judged by industry professionals, Sarah Rogerson from Artesia Consulting and Jason Tucker from Anglian Water.

The winning student(s) will be announced at the Big Bang Fair and presented with their trophy by the Paul Horton, Chief Executive Officer of Future Water Association and Mark Smith, Chief Executive Officer of the Water Research Centre.

The Big Bang Competition

The Competition is open to all UK residents in full-time education or training and the UK Finals take place at The Big Bang Fair on 14 March 2019.

Finalists compete for some amazing prizes, including top and runner-up prizes in the Junior, Intermediate and Senior categories for science and engineering, as well as the coveted titles of GSK UK Young Engineer of the Year and GSK UK Young Scientist. Entrants also have the chance to represent the UK at international contests across the globe!
