Exclusive Tour and Capability Showcase: The Manufacturing Technology Centre

11th June 2019 @ 9:30 am - 1:00 pm

Future Water Association members are invited to join EUA for a free to attend, exclusive tour and capability showcase of the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) on Tuesday 11th June 2019 in Coventry.

The MTC is an Independent Research and Technology Organisation, part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult and was established at Ansty Park, Coventry in 2010 with the objective of bridging the gap between academic research and industrial adoption. In partnership with industry, academia and other institutions, MTC develop and prove innovative manufacturing processes and technologies through TRL levels in an agile, low risk environment.

A morning session only will cover a number of innovation areas and will be led by Huw Sullivan (ex Cadent Innovation Manager).

Capabilities to be covered include, business process and transformation, factory optimisation, AI, big data, machine learning, metrology, robotics, 3d printing technology, mechatronics. Attendees will also learn about:

  • The Smart Manufacturing Accelerator / Factory In A Box (FIAB)
  • Non-Conventional Machining – provide efficient, cost-effective solutions for the manufacture of traditionally difficult to machine materials using state-of-the-art spark erosion and laser technologies.
  • Component Manufacturing Systems – Net Shape Manufacturing (including friction welding), Additive Manufacturing, Powder Management and Advanced Material Processing (including fusion welding and non-conventional machining)
  • National Centre For Additive Manufacturing – The National Centre for Additive Manufacturing (NCAM) is here to accelerate the uptake of Additive Manufacturing (AM) by developing the technology and systems required to address the key challenges within the AM value chain.
  • Metrology & Ndt – applies technology solutions for process and product quality for multiple sectors including aerospace, power generation, defence, rail and infrastructure.
  • SME Support – Helping SMEs across the UK supply chain increase productivity using the latest manufacturing technology.
  • High Integrity Fabrication – The High Integrity Fabrication theme delivers innovative research projects to develop fusion and solid state welding technologies for a range of applications in the high value manufacturing sector. Projects prove the capability of joining technologies for a range of difficult to weld materials, and provide a robust capability demonstration before full adoption in a manufacturing environment.
  • Apprentices – The MTC connects those who are interested in apprenticeships with high calibre manufacturing and engineering employers who are looking to employ the best talent in the industry.

We do hope you can join EUA for what promises to be a very interesting and informative morning. If you would like to attend please contact peter@eua.org.uk by Tuesday 4th June to register your interest.
