Dr Jeremy Walton

Scientific Systems Manager, Met Office

Jeremy Walton is a Scientific Systems Manager at the Met Office in Exeter, United Kingdom (UK). He received a B.Sc. (1st Class Honors) degree in chemistry from Imperial College London, UK in 1980 and the D.Phil. degree in physical chemistry from the University of Oxford, UK in 1984.

Following post-doctoral work at Cornell University, USA, he joined BP Research to work on molecular modelling and visualization, before moving to The Numerical Algorithms Group Ltd in 1993 to lead their visualization group.

He has been at the Met Office since 2013, where he manages the technical development of the UK Earth System Model. He has published more than 50 papers on molecular physics, scientific visualization, and climate modelling.
