Digital Water Outward Mission to India:

Digital Water Outward Mission to India:

Expression of Interest:

The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) invites innovative and digital UK water companies to join a trade mission to India to meet key players, explore new opportunities and to exhibit at the IFAT India, 2023. UK companies specializing in digital water technology and who have the potential to offer advanced solutions, interested in the Indian market are requested to register interest.

Background:

India has a rapidly growing population and increasing urbanization, leading to a significant demand for water and wastewater management solutions. By 2030, India’s water demand is projected to be twice the water supply, increasing the need to manage the resources carefully. The Government of India has announced significant investments in the water sector as part of several flagship programs, thus opening up enormous opportunities for private players to invest in this space.

In recent years, the Government of India has launched several large-scale transformational programs in the water and wastewater sector – the Jal Jeevan Mission (Rural), AMRUT 2.0 and Namami Gange. These programs aim at ensuring universal water supply through tap connections, providing 24 X 7 water supply, developing household sewer connections and enhancing sewage treatment capacity. While the government is focused on development of basic infrastructure for water and wastewater management, there is a clear focus on changing the approach from infrastructure creation to service delivery. One of the key enablers of such service delivery approach will be to embrace digital solutions in this space. The government has acknowledged the importance of such digital interventions and has incorporated this need in the guidelines / manuals of all central programs/schemes in the water sector.  Increasingly, digital solutions are being adopted across the lifecycle of assets – from planning, to construction, and operation and maintenance.

Opportunities exists for UK companies who offer advanced solutions such as smart metering, data analytics, remote monitoring systems, and real-time water quality monitoring to name a few and Any technologies that can help improve water distribution networks, reduce non-revenue water losses, enable predictive maintenance, and enhance overall water resource management.
