Leading UK Innovators Sanivar UK launches NEOFIT+Plus technology in the UK.
The advanced water pipeline rehabilitation solution, which offers a new trenchless, less disruptive and environmentally friendly way to protect and refurbish essential water supplies in including customer supply pipes.
NEOFIT+Plus has been used successfully across Europe since 1995, having already demonstrated substantial success in France, where it has renewed over 200,000 lead water services, covering more than 2,000 miles of pipe.
NEOFIT+Plus Expandable Pressure Pipe is a trenchless, non-invasive, semi-structural piping system for existing water service lines. Made of Virgin PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate), the pipeline rehabilitation solution helps restore service pipes by creating a barrier inside avoiding unnecessary replacement and extended disruption.
Sanivar has recently achieved NSF REG4 certification for the NEOFIT+Plus range of PET Pipe Liners. This certification ensures our products meet the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
Speaking on the importance of this new launch, Tim Farley, Business Development Manager at Sanivar UK, said: “We are delighted to be introducing NEOFIT+Plus to the UK as it is a technology we have been championing for several years. NEOFIT+Plus has seen great success in its use to date and we are looking forward to seeing how this success will transfer to the UK market. The potential impact on our country’s water network is huge in terms of financial and carbon emission savings and NEOFIT+Plus directly addresses the AMP8 challenges of service pipe repairs and lead replacement’
PET is a tough and flexible thermoplastic material that is easily inserted into pipes. The tube is then inflated under water pressure and expands until it reaches the inner wall of the old pipe. This thin wall liner is impermeable for lead, which protects the drinking water inside the pipe whilst repairing any small leaks. PET is durable and stays resistant to leaching, with structural material that has been scientifically evaluated for longevity of 100+ years.
Compared to open-cut, the trenchless method used to install NEOFIT+Plus reduces project time, in addition to providing a more cost-effective method of repair. Average cost savings are between 35-45% and there is standard installation time of 2.5 hours for all NEOFIT+Plus installations, regardless of depth.
NEOFIT+Plus’s economic benefits are matched by its environmental offering, reducing Green House Gas (GHG) emissions drastically. When comparing emissions per 15m of replaced piping during the manufacturing stage, NEOFIT+Plus technology produced over 10-times less emissions compared to open-cut methods. It is also anticipated that when using NEOFIT+Plus, GHG reduction will only increase as the depth and length of the pipe increases.
NEOFIT+Plus protects potable water in existing service pipes including lead, extending the existing pipe’s life by sealing leaks and pinholes while ensuring that flow capacity is not negatively affected.
Tim added: “NEOFIT+Plus is set to have a huge impact on the way we extend the life of our water pipelines in order to save money on repeated repairs, minimise disruptions to the public, and most importantly, protect the precious resource that is our water supply.”
Similarly, to SaniLine® and SaniTube®, which are relied on across the UK to protect water infrastructure, the trenchless installation method used with NEOFIT+Plus helps minimise disruption to both the public and transport and speed up the repair process.
To celebrate NEOFIT+Plus receiving NSF REG4 certification, the Sanivar team will be travelling across the country to showcase its uses and benefits. Beginning on 9th September 2024, the Sanivar UK team will be offering product demonstrations and samples on customer sites by prior arrangement
The team will also be attending No Dig Live on 1st October to 3rd October 2024. The event will be an opportunity for our team, along with other manufacturers and suppliers to display and demonstrate products in a working environment.
