Chris Hughes

Associate Director Water, Arup

Chris is an Associate Director in the Energy and Resources team in the UKMIEA region based in the UK Midlands Campus. Chris has approximately 29 years’ international experience in the delivery of water resources planning advisory consultancy and business development leadership in the water sector. He is the UKMIEA Water Resources Leader.

Chris has a track record in the leadership and delivery of multi-disciplinary water resources planning projects and communication of outputs to Executive Level stakeholders. His main area of technical expertise includes provision of advisory services in Integrated Water Management and Planning, Water Resilience and Water Scarcity risk assessments which he has undertaken for international water utilities and regulators.
He has delivered advice to the 100RC initiative for the Rockefeller Foundation, International Finance Corporation, European Commission and undertaken several consultancy assignments and research in the UK, Ireland, Jordan, Germany, Hong Kong and Peru.

His wider business management and development skills include market assessment of emerging issues, development and implementation of sector and service area growth plans including customer account management, marketing and branding, strategic partnership and collaboration, staff mentoring and recruitment.
