hAQUAthon 2017, 22 & 23 November

On the 22nd & 23rd November, at the Future Cities Catapult Innovation Centre Innovation in London, a range of companies, academia and partners will come together to work through real life data problems to produce commercially viable solutions. Based on the “Hackathon” or Data Hack concept, the ground breaking hAQUAthon 2017 will bring together a range of organisations throughout the Water Industry to collaborate with data science and analytic experts to drive innovation through a fun, informal event.

Sponsored by South East Water, Affinity Water and the Future Water Association, teams will work collaboratively to analyse, debate and produce solutions to the most pressing issues faced in the industry. decisionLab UK has partnered with Exeter University Centre for Water Systems, Artesia Consulting and Innovate UK to optimise the range of teams attending and mentors.

The focus of the event is on new Data Science applications to enable Smart Water Networks. The event will provide the opportunity to build new networks, identify real-world solutions to big challenges and accelerate innovation in the water community.

The event is free to attend for participants and winning teams will be offered a range of prizes and support which will facilitate taking the idea into industry. The winning team will also automatically have the opportunity to pitch their idea to the “Water Dragons” during the Future Water Networks Event on the 4th December. Click here for more information.

In addition, winners will be coached with targeted Investor readiness, supported by Innovate UK, through the Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) via the “Access to Funding and Finance (A2FF) Programme.

Quote from David Buxton, CEO of decisionLab

“The water industry is no stranger to collecting data but innovation is needed to ensure they find new, collaborative approaches to finding new and better ways to use it.

This new event is open to all technology and data scientist enthusiasts and we are really excited to be putting this together.

We think that our event focussed on smart networks will create unprecedented opportunities to re-think the way the water industry operates and uses the data it collects.”
